Who it is for
One app, three age modes
Little Explorer (ages 2 to 5) is the simplest version. Big Kid (6 to 12) adds more games and features, and Teens and Grown-ups (13+) has everything Big Kid has. Pick a mode on first open and change it any time.
Kids
Little Explorer has bigger pictures and buttons, and game prompts are spoken, not written. Both modes have speaking practice, and Big Kid adds Memory match and travel phrases. Children in Kindergarten to Grade 3 can also use the English reading tutor.

Word progress is kept on each device, and a family account (set up by us; you cannot choose one at sign-up yet) keeps separate progress for up to 5 people. The English reading tutor keeps up to 6 readers, with a printable report for parents.

Each card shows a picture (or a colour swatch or numeral), the word, a pronunciation hint and the word in your own language, and plays the word's own audio clip. There are 15 topic decks, from family and food to feelings and transport.

An adult signs up with an email address and a password, then confirms with a 6-digit code we email. The 90-day trial starts right away, with no card needed.
Pick an age mode and a language
Choose Little Explorer, Big Kid or Teens and Grown-ups. Then pick one of 11 languages to learn, and the language you speak (English or one of 11 others) for the helper line on each card.
Learn, play and say it
Open a deck, hear each word, then play a game with the same words. Use it in a modern web browser, or add it to your home screen.

Learning With Momo is run by a Canadian company, under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA).
No ads
No ads and no ad networks, in any age mode.
No ad trackers
One cookie, used only to keep you signed in, and no ad scripts in the app. The app keeps its own usage records under your account, such as minutes played and game scores.
Voices stay on the device
Recordings from speaking practice and the reading tutor stay in your browser's memory. They are never uploaded, and they are gone when you reload.
Parents control the reading tutor
The reading microphone is off until a parent turns it on. The reading tutor's Grown-ups area sits behind a parent check, and parents can delete reading data at any time.
Translation is on the way
A translate tool is coming soon. For now, every card also shows the word in your own language: English by default, or one of 11 others.

Common questions
Who is Learning With Momo for?
Kids, teens and adults. The app has three age modes: Little Explorer (ages 2 to 5), Big Kid (6 to 12) and Teens and Grown-ups (13+). Teens and adults share the same mode. You pick the mode yourself and can change it any time. The separate English reading tutor is for children in Kindergarten to Grade 3.
Which languages can I learn?
Arabic (Lebanese or Standard Arabic), French, Spanish, Mandarin, Portuguese, German, Hindi, Russian, Polish, Bengali and Korean, each with the same 227 words and phrases. English is not one of the 11. It is the default language for the "I speak" helper line on the cards (you can switch it to one of 11 others), and it is taught only as phonics in the reading tutor. More Arabic dialects are on the way.
What kind of voices does it use?
Every word has its own pre-made audio clip, spoken by a clear AI (neural) voice. Spanish uses a Mexican voice and Portuguese a Brazilian voice. A few extras, like the Arabic letter names, use your device's built-in voice.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Learning With Momo is a web app. It runs in a modern web browser on phone, tablet or computer, and you can add it to your home screen. There is no App Store or Google Play app. From Big Kid mode up, you can save your language for offline use, which works for up to 7 days before the app needs to go online again.
How much does it cost?
Every new account starts with a free 90-day trial, and no card is needed. Paid plans are coming soon: Individual at $6.99 a month or $59 a year, Family at $9.99 a month or $89 a year, and Schools and groups from $3 per learner per month for 20 or more. Until checkout is ready, ask us when your trial ends and we will set up your membership by hand.
