What you learn
What you learn in Arabic
Each card shows the word in Arabic script, a transliteration hint in Latin letters, and the word in your own language: English by default, or another language you choose under "I speak". Tap the card to hear it again.
Numbers, both ways
The Numbers deck counts from 1 to 20, and each number card shows the digit beside the Eastern Arabic numeral, from 1 and ١ up to 20 and ٢٠.
16 travel phrases
Ask what something costs or whether you can pay by card, ask for the menu and the bill, say you have a reservation, ask for the wifi password, say you need a taxi, ask where the bathroom is, say you are lost and ask for help. All 16 come in Lebanese and in Fusha, with audio. Not in Little Explorer.
Four picture games
Find it! (hear the prompt, tap the right picture), Memory match, How many? (count to 5 in Little Explorer, to 10 in the other modes) and I spy (find 5 named things in one of 3 scenes). Each deck has 3 stars to earn: one for seeing every card, one for Find it! and one for Memory match.
Say it like Momo
Listen, hold to record yourself and play it back. Then hear your recording as a chipmunk, a slow giant, a robot or a kitty. No scores and no grades, and your recording never leaves the device. In every age mode, Little Explorer included, with bigger buttons there for small hands.
Stickers, streaks and Today's word
Unlock up to 40 stickers, keep a daily streak on your device, and hear Today's word: one word a day, the same for everyone.
Two ways to learn
Lebanese Arabic and Fusha, side by side
The language picker has two Arabic cards, Lebanese Arabic and Fusha (Standard Arabic), each with its own AI voice. Pick Fusha to learn the standard form rather than a dialect. Pick Lebanese for everyday Lebanese words wherever Momo has them, with Fusha close by.
- On 137 cards, about 6 in 10, Lebanese says the word differently from Fusha (sometimes only in pronunciation). Those cards add a note, "That's the Lebanese way!", with the Fusha word and its hint. The note is hidden in Little Explorer.
- Where Momo has no Lebanese form, including the School and Clothes decks and most of Transport, Lebanese learners see the Fusha word.
- Switch between Lebanese and Fusha from the language picker. Switching takes you back to Home.

Only in Arabic
Letter pages and tracing
Of Momo's 11 languages, only Arabic has letters to learn. In the Alphabet room (not in Little Explorer), tap any letter to open its page: the letter's name, a transliteration, its 4 shapes (on its own, at the start, in the middle and at the end of a word) and an example word with a picture, such as ب with بَطّة (duck).
- Trace it: follow the grey letter with your finger. Cover about half of it and you hear the letter's name, with confetti.
- Tracing checks only how much of the letter you cover, so going outside the lines never counts against you.
- Momo teaches letter names, such as alif and baa. It does not teach letter sounds or reading in Arabic.

Compare and connect
Hear how one word travels
Arabic learners in Big Kid and Teens and Grown-ups modes can see one word side by side across languages, and Arabic speakers can use Arabic to learn something new.
Dialect lab
Pick one of 70 words and see it in rows, side by side, including Lebanese, Fusha and Momo's 10 other languages. Tap any row to hear it. Not in Little Explorer.
How everyone says it
In Teens and Grown-ups mode, a fold-out box under each Arabic card shows the same rows for the word you are on, each with a speaker button.
Arabic as your own language
Already speak Arabic? Choose العربية as your "I speak" language while you learn French, Spanish or another of Momo's languages. The helper line then shows and speaks Fusha.
The voice
Natural AI voices for Lebanese and Fusha
Every Arabic word and phrase on the cards has its own pre-made audio clip. Nearly all of them are made with ElevenLabs AI voices: one voice for Lebanese and a different voice for Fusha. Each gives you a clear, steady model to copy.
- Clips play at the same speed in every age mode, Little Explorer included.
- After the Arabic word you hear the word in your own language on learn cards, in Memory match, Say it like Momo and Today's word, and in the How many? game. English and Momo's other languages are spoken by Microsoft neural voices.
- Letter names and example words on the letter pages, and the hello when you pick a language, use your device's built-in voice, so they can sound different from one device to another.
- If a clip is missing or will not play, the device voice steps in.
Who it suits
Who Momo's Arabic is for
One app, three age modes. Pick a mode the first time you open Momo and change it any time from the header.
Children 2 to 12
Little Explorer (ages 2 to 5) is pictures and sounds: 14 decks, Find it! with 2 choices, How many? up to 5, I spy and Say it like Momo, with the words still written on each card. Big Kid (ages 6 to 12) adds Travel Phrases, Memory match, the alphabet with tracing, the Dialect lab and the Fusha note on Lebanese cards.
Heritage families
If your family speaks Lebanese Arabic, pick Lebanese. Cards use the Lebanese form wherever Momo has one, with a hint in Latin letters, so a parent who does not read Arabic script can still follow along. In every mode except Little Explorer, a note also shows the Fusha word wherever the two differ.
Teens and grown-ups
Everything in Big Kid, plus the How everyone says it box under each card. A gentle start in a new script: every word in Arabic letters with a Latin-letter hint, 28 letters to trace, and phrases to record and play back.
Travellers
Heading to Lebanon? Learn the 16 travel phrases in Lebanese, from the bill to a taxi to the airport, then save the Arabic audio and your own language's audio to your device before you fly. Offline, Momo keeps working for up to 7 days after it last checked your membership online. Not in Little Explorer.
What Momo does not do
Momo teaches everyday words, short phrases and Arabic letter names. It is not a grammar or conversation course, it does not teach Arabic letter sounds or reading in Arabic, and it does not check your pronunciation. A translate tool is coming soon; today, every card shows the word in your own language. Vocabulary progress does not sync between devices.
Questions
Arabic questions
Should I learn Lebanese Arabic or Fusha?
Choose Lebanese if that is the Arabic your family speaks or you are planning a trip to Lebanon. Choose Fusha (Standard Arabic) if you would rather start with the standard form than with one dialect. Lebanese learners see Fusha too: in every mode except Little Explorer, Lebanese cards show the Fusha word wherever the two differ, and where Momo has no Lebanese form (the School and Clothes decks and most of Transport) you see Fusha. You can switch from the language picker whenever you like; it takes you back to Home.
Can I learn Egyptian, Gulf, Moroccan or other Arabic dialects?
No. Today the two Arabic choices are Lebanese and Fusha (Standard Arabic). More Arabic dialects are on the way.
Will my child learn to read Arabic?
No. Momo does not teach reading in Arabic, but it does give your child a first look at the script. Every card shows the word in Arabic script with a transliteration hint, and in Big Kid and Teens and Grown-ups modes learners meet all 28 letters with their names, their 4 shapes and an example word, and practise tracing them. Momo teaches letter names, not letter sounds. The Reading tutor in Momo is English phonics only, from Kindergarten to Grade 3.
Is the Arabic audio made by AI?
Almost all of it, yes. Nearly every Arabic word and phrase clip was made with ElevenLabs AI voices, one for Lebanese and a different one for Fusha. Letter names and example words on the letter pages, and the hello when you pick a language, use your device's built-in voice instead.
