For kids
Picture words, games and stickers for kids aged 2 to 12
Learning With Momo has two modes made for children. Little Explorer (ages 2 to 5) is pictures, sounds, spoken games and speaking practice. Big Kid (ages 6 to 12) adds more games and travel phrases. In the word app, children learn everyday words and phrases in one of 11 languages. Young readers can also practise English phonics in Reading, from Kindergarten to Grade 3.

Age modes
Two kid modes, plus one for teens and grown-ups
The app asks for an age mode the first time it opens and remembers it on that device. You can switch any time from the chip at the top of the screen. There is no age check, so pick the mode that fits your child.
Little Explorer
Ages 2 to 5. Pictures, sounds and recording with silly voices. Game prompts are spoken, not written, Find it! and How many? offer 2 choices, and pictures and buttons are bigger.

Little Explorer: made for children who are not reading yet
Every game prompt is spoken, not written, and pictures and buttons are bigger. Cards still show the written word and a pronunciation hint, so a grown-up can read along.
- 14 picture decks, from animals and food to colours and feelings (the Travel Phrases deck is left out).
- Each card says the word, then the same word in your language. Tap the card to replay it.
- Find it!: hear Momo ask for a word, then tap its picture out of 2.
- How many?: count from 1 to 5, with 2 answers to choose from.
- I spy: find 5 named things in a farm, snack time or park scene.
- Say it like Momo: listen, record yourself and play it back, in your own voice or a silly one. The record and play buttons are bigger here, for small hands.
- Today's word, a daily streak and a sticker book on the home screen.
- Reading, the English phonics tutor, is on the home screen too.
- Finished games end with stars, confetti, a spoken bravo and a big "Yaaay!"
- Not in Little Explorer (switch to Big Kid for these): Memory match, My progress and Save offline, and for Arabic learners the alphabet, Trace it and the Dialect lab.

Ages 6 to 12
Big Kid: more words, more games and a progress page
Big Kid shows game prompts in writing as well as out loud, opens all 15 decks and adds Memory match, My progress and Save offline. Arabic learners also get three extras.
- All 15 decks, including 16 travel phrases such as "Where is the bathroom?" and "I'm lost".
- Find it! with 4 pictures, and How many? counting from 1 to 10 with 4 choices.
- Memory match: pair each picture with its written word.
- Say it like Momo: listen, record yourself and play it back, in your own voice or a silly one.
- My progress: stars, words heard (every play counts), decks completed, a score and medal for each deck, and a small chart of recent Find it! and Memory match scores.
- Save offline: download the audio for your language pair before a trip.
- Learning Arabic (Lebanese or Standard Arabic)? Big Kid also has the 28-letter alphabet, Trace it and the Dialect lab.
- Finished games end with an "Amazing!"

What children learn
Everyday words, each with its own audio
The word list is the same in every language: 227 everyday words and phrases in 15 picture decks.
15 picture decks
Greetings, family, animals, food and drink, colours, shapes, numbers 1 to 20, the body, feelings, nature and weather, everyday things, school, clothes, transport and travel phrases.
11 languages
Arabic (Lebanese or Standard Arabic), French, Spanish, Mandarin, Portuguese, German, Hindi, Russian, Polish, Bengali and Korean. Spanish uses a Mexican voice, Portuguese a Brazilian one, and Mandarin hints are pinyin without tone marks.
Your language on every card
Every card also shows the word in your own language: English by default, or one of 11 others. A card has three lines: the word, a pronunciation hint and the same word in your language.
A clip for every word
Every word has its own pre-made audio clip, spoken by a clear AI (neural) voice.
Today's word
One word a day, the same for everyone, in every age mode. Tap it to hear it.
Games
Short games that end on a right answer
Find it!, How many? and I spy each take a few quick rounds. A round moves on only after the right tap, so these three games always end with stars and confetti.
Find it!
Five rounds: hear the prompt, then tap the right picture. A wrong tap buzzes and the prompt plays again. Little Explorer gets 2 pictures, Big Kid and up get 4.
How many?
Five rounds of counting pictures, with the question and the right number also said in your language. Little Explorer counts 1 to 5 with 2 choices, Big Kid and up count 1 to 10 with 4.
I spy
In every age mode. Three scenes (The farm, Snack time, At the park) with 9 things in each. Find the 5 that Momo asks for.
Memory match
Big Kid and up. Match up to 6 pairs: a picture and its written word. Each match says the word, then says it in your language.
Say it like Momo
Every age mode and every language, from the home screen or the Say it button on any deck. Listen, hold the button to record, then play yourself back. After the first recording, hear it as a chipmunk, a slow giant, a robot or a kitty. No scores and no grades.
Trace it
Big Kid and up, Arabic only. Trace a grey letter with a finger. When enough of it is covered, the letter's name plays.
Rewards
Stars, stickers and a daily streak
Each topic deck has 3 stars to earn: one for seeing every card in one visit, one for finishing Find it! and one for finishing Memory match. Memory match is in Big Kid and up, so in Little Explorer each deck tops out at 2 stars. Stars unlock stickers, and so do recordings, game wins and streaks.
- 40 emoji stickers, unlocked one by one in a fixed order.
- One sticker for every deck star.
- One for every 3 wins in How many?, and one for every 3 wins in I spy.
- One for every 5 recordings in Say it like Momo.
- One each for reaching a 3, 7, 14 and 30-day streak.
- The flame streak counts the days in a row, by local time, that the word app is opened on this device.
- The stars, stickers and streak in the word app are saved in this browser. They do not move to another device, and they stay after sign-out, so the next account on that browser sees them too.
- On an ordinary account the word app has no separate child profiles; a family account (set up by us; you cannot choose one at sign-up yet) holds up to 5 people, each with their own stars, stickers and streak on each device. A daily activity log is also kept on our server (see the privacy section below).

Reading, Kindergarten to Grade 3
An English reading tutor for early readers
Reading is a phonics tutor inside the app for young children learning to read English. It is English only (American English), whatever language your child is learning in the word app, and it goes up to Grade 3.
- 7 levels, named after US school grades (the names only: Reading is not tied to any school curriculum): Kindergarten, Early grade 1, Grade 1, Late grade 1, Grade 2, Late grade 2 and Grade 3.
- Skills in order: letter sounds, short vowels, two letters that make one sound (like sh and ch), blends, magic e, vowel teams and bossy r.
- 261 words and 67 one-line sentences, with emoji pictures.
- Up to 6 readers on one account. A grown-up picks each reader's starting level.
- Reading progress is saved on your account, so it follows your child to another device.
- It adapts by fixed rules, not AI: each session focuses on up to 2 skills, picked from low scores, time since last practice and recent mix-ups.
- Sessions stay short: after 8 minutes it skips ahead to the balloon game and the reward, and after 10 minutes, straight to the reward.
- Large buttons (at least 64 pixels), laid out for tablets and still usable on phones.

Inside a session
What happens in one reading session
Every choice gets one retry. A second miss shows the answer, and the session moves on.
Warm-up
Up to 3 quick questions: which sound does this word start with?
Meet the sound
The focus sound appears in up to 2 words, tile by tile. Nothing is scored here.
Blend
Up to 3 words. Slide across the letter tiles, hear the word slowly and then at normal speed, pick its picture from 3, then read it aloud.
A sentence
From level 2 up: tap a word to hear it, hold a word to see its sounds, listen, then read the sentence aloud.
Which word did I say?
Hear a word and pick it from 3 look-alike words, up to 5 times.
Balloons
Up to 6 balloons, each with 3 choices. Balloons left alone float away and do not count.
Reward
Coins for the session. Once there are enough, the next part of the treehouse is added automatically.
Coins and the parent report
Coins, a treehouse and a report for you
Coins reward effort, not only right answers, and they are never taken away. Grown-ups get a printable report in the grown-ups area.
- 1 coin for every finished step, right or wrong, plus 3 for finishing a session and 2 more for the first finished session of the day.
- Coins build a treehouse: 12 parts in a fixed order, then 8 decorations. The roof needs 2 stars and the telescope needs 5.
- Stars come from mastering a new skill and from finishing a level.
- A reader moves up a level when 80% of that level's skills are mastered, after at least 3 finished sessions at that level.
- The report shows the level, this week's sessions, minutes, words sounded out and percent right, session bars for the last 4 weeks, and new sounds this week.
- It also lists what your child does well, what needs more practice (for example, "Sometimes reads sh as s"), and up to 3 things to try at home tonight.
- Reading aloud is practice only. The app does not judge the voice: only tapped answers count toward progress.

For parents
Privacy, in plain words
Here is what happens with your child's voice and data.
Your child's voice stays on the device
Recordings in Say it like Momo and in Reading stay in the browser's memory and are never uploaded or saved to a server. Each new take replaces the last, and they are gone when the page reloads. Nothing scores them: there is no speech recognition anywhere in the app.
Reading microphone starts off
The Reading microphone is off until a grown-up turns it on for that device. With it off, your child reads aloud and taps the check mark to carry on.
A parent check on the grown-ups area
Reading's grown-ups area opens only after a two-second hold and a times-table question. It then stays open for 10 minutes.
What a reader profile stores
A reader is a nickname (up to 16 characters), an animal and a level, saved on our server under your account along with that reader's results. The usage statistics we log never include the nickname.
Delete reading data any time
Parents can delete a reader's results, a reader, or all reading data. Each one asks you to type DELETE first.
What we do keep
We keep our own daily activity log under your account email, with no outside analytics service: opens, minutes, screens, decks, game scores, stars, missed words, language, age mode and whether the app is installed or used offline. Each day's usage record is deleted 61 days after the day it covers, and your account's line in the daily site totals 121 days after.

What Momo is, and what it is not
Momo is a learning aid for everyday words and short phrases, Arabic letter names and shapes, and English phonics for early readers. It does not teach grammar or conversation, and it does not check pronunciation. The Arabic alphabet teaches letter names, not letter sounds. Reading covers single words and one-line sentences, not stories. Some games depend on the age mode or on learning Arabic, so not every child sees every game.
Questions parents ask
Which mode should I pick for my child?
Start from age: Little Explorer for 2 to 5, Big Kid for 6 to 12. Then go by what your child can do. A child who is not reading yet may be happier in Little Explorer, where game prompts are spoken. A child who reads a few words may want Big Kid's 4-choice games and Memory match. You can switch from the chip at the top of the screen.
Can a child who cannot read yet play?
Yes. In Little Explorer, Find it!, How many? and I spy give their prompts out loud, not in writing, and Find it! and How many? offer only 2 choices. Cards still show the written word and a hint, so a grown-up can read along.
Does Momo check my child's pronunciation?
No. There is no speech recognition and no pronunciation scoring. In Say it like Momo (in every age mode), your child listens, records and plays the recording back, with silly voices if they like. Recordings stay on the device.
What age is the Reading tutor for?
Young children learning to read English, from Kindergarten to Grade 3. It teaches phonics, from letter sounds up to vowel teams and bossy r, with words and one-line sentences. It has no stories, and it is English only.
Can my child learn English words in the word app?
No. In the word app, English is only a helper language: it is the default line under each word, and you can switch that line to one of 11 other languages. English is taught only in Reading, as phonics.
Can brothers and sisters share one account?
In Reading, yes: up to 6 readers per account, each with their own level and report. In the word app, a family account holds up to 5 people, each with their own stars, stickers and streak on each device, and the app asks who is learning each time it opens. On an ordinary account they are kept once per browser, so children who share a device share them.
Does it work offline?
Partly. In Big Kid and up, Save offline downloads the audio for your language pair (about 8 to 12 MB). In every mode, word and Reading clips are also saved as each one first plays. Offline use works for up to 7 days after the app last checked in online.
Is there an app in the App Store or Google Play?
No. Momo runs in a modern web browser on phone, tablet or computer, and you can add it to your home screen. Recording needs microphone permission and a browser that supports recording.
What does it cost?
New accounts start with a 90-day free trial, and no card is needed. After the trial, membership is set up by hand on request. Planned prices are on the pricing page, marked coming soon.
